BSA Scouts USA provides fun and learning opportunities for youth from 6th through 12th Grades (ages 11 - 17).
Troop 649 scouts participate in a variety of activities ranging from hiking and camping, to kayaking and campfire cooking;
from contributing to community service projects to participating in sports and fitness activities;
from learning about STEM topics to exploring nature.
Scouts in Troop 649 have opportunities to camp every month, to attend week-long BSA summer camps, to be exposed to a wide range of potential careers and new interests through Merit Badge activities and weekly peer-led scout skills training, and to provide volunteer service. The scouts are encouraged and mentored to succeed in leadership roles within the troop and in our community.
Troop 649 is a recipient of BSA's GOLD award for Journey to Excellence --
performing in the Top 10% of all scouting units nationwide! This award recognizes Troop 649's excellence in delivering
a high quality program for our scouts, including scout activities, community service, trained leadership, and governance.
Troop 649 meets Mondays from 7:30-9:00 pm at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center in Columbia (Howard County), Maryland.
We are chartered by St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church; and part of BSA National Pike District of the Baltimore Area Council.
